The Savitri Gayatri Mantra is the most famous Gayatri mantra in the Vedas, dedicated to Savitṛ (Savita), the divine solar power that impels and awakens all life.

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः ।
तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं ।
भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि ।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥
Transliteration
Om Bhūr Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ
Tat Savitur Vareṇyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhīmahi
Dhiyo Yo Naḥ Prachodayāt
Meaning
Om – The primordial sound
Bhūr, Bhuvaḥ, Svaḥ – The physical, subtle, and celestial realms
Tat – That Supreme Reality
Savitur – Of Savitṛ, the divine solar source
Vareṇyam – Most excellent, worthy of adoration
Bhargaḥ – Divine radiance that removes ignorance
Devasya – Of the Divine
Dhīmahi – We meditate upon

Although often associated with the Sun, Savitṛ is slightly different from the visible Sun (Surya). Savitṛ represents the divine power behind the Sun—the creative, life-giving, awakening force of consciousness.
