I take refuge in Lord Vaidyanatha, the wish-fulfilling tree for those who surrender to Him, the shining lamp in the forest of worldly life. I worship the Lord of Vaikuntha in the form of the Shiva Linga, who grants long life, fame, health, and the fulfillment of desires.

गङ्गाप्रवाहामृततत्त्वमाध्यं
जानन्ति ये वैद्यतमं तमीडे ।
जरा विनाशं मृत्यु नाशमेकं
भजाम्यहं वैद्यतमं नमामि ॥ २ ॥

Meaning:
I praise that supreme physician whose nature is like the nectar flowing from the Ganga. He is the destroyer of old age, the destroyer of death itself. I bow to Him, the Supreme Healer.

वैतरणी तीरणवासमेकं
नानार्तिनाशं भवपाशमुक्तम् ।
नानाविधानन्दकरं प्रपद्ये
भजामि वैद्यं भवतापहर्त्रम् ॥ ३ ॥

Meaning:
He resides on the banks of the Vaitarani river, freeing devotees from all forms of suffering and from the bondage of worldly existence. He bestows many kinds of bliss. I worship that physician who removes the heat and pain of worldly troubles.

आर्तं शरण्यं शिवमेकमीडे
संसाररोगार्तिहरं सदैव ।
आध्यात्मिकाद्याः खलु रोगनाशं
कुर्वन्ति वैद्यं तमहं नमामि ॥ ४ ॥

Meaning:
I praise that one refuge, Lord Shiva, who always destroys the diseases of worldly existence. He removes all afflictions — physical, mental, and spiritual. I bow to that Divine Physician.

रम्यं गिरीशं गिरिजार्द्धदेहं
सदाशिवं साधुजनैर्वन्द्यम् ।
त्रैलोक्यनाथं त्रिगुणात्मरूपं
भजामि वैद्यं भवतापहर्त्रम् ॥ ५ ॥

Meaning:
I worship the delightful Lord of the mountains, who shares half His body with Goddess Parvati, who is ever-auspicious and worshipped by the noble. He is the Lord of the three worlds and the embodiment of the three gunas (qualities). He removes the pains of worldly existence.

मन्दारमालालयहारयुक्तं
सुन्दारसर्वाङ्गमुदारभावम् ।
संसारसन्तापविनाशहस्तं
भजामि वैद्यं भवतापहर्त्रम् ॥ ६ ॥

Meaning:
Wearing a garland of Mandara flowers, possessing a beautiful form and a noble nature, He holds in His hands the power to destroy the burning sorrows of worldly life. I worship that physician.

वैराग्यसत्यज्ञानभक्तियोगैः
संसाररोगं हरिमेकमेव ।
ईशं महेशं जगतां त्रयानां
भजामि वैद्यं भवतापहर्त्रम् ॥ ७ ॥

Meaning:
Through dispassion, truth, wisdom, devotion, and union with Him, the disease of worldly life is destroyed. I worship the great Lord, the master of the three worlds, the supreme physician.

यः पठेत् भक्त्या शिवसन्निधौ च ।
