Needing the arani for the ritual, the Brahmin chased after the deer but could not retrieve it. He approached the Pandavas, who then ventured deep into the forest in search of the arani. Tired and thirsty, one by one, Kunti’s sons approached a lake to drink water—each of them collapsed and died upon drinking.
