Taittiriya Upanishad:

The making of the Gross bodies and objects for experience
The 5 elements are:
Ether ( space)Air
Fire
Water
Earth
[11/05, 9:10 AM] +91 77364 24920: A = Divide each of above by 2 equal half
B = Each A /4 – into four quarters
C = Major half of Ether + 4 quarters of (Air+Fire+Water+Earth

The above combinations ( samhitas +vyahrtis) of the 5 elements creates the Gross Bodies and the objects for experience.
This produces four class of beings :

  1. Foetus born
  2. Egg born
  3. Larvae born
  4. Seed born
    [12/05, 7:17 AM] +91 77364 24920: Taittiriya Upanishad:

The 5 elements ( space, air, fire, water and earth) are combined in various combinations to produce all kinds of gross living bodies . This combination is the reason for differentiation due to which we feel that ” I am the doer” or the “I” arises.

In the beginning was the “Brahman” in an unmanifested state with no form or name. Then it decided to multiply in a manifested form (with form and name) . The 5 elements produced gross bodies into which Brahman entered as life breaths ( prana)
[12/05, 7:20 AM] +91 77364 24920: This Gross Body is the physical sheath ( kosa)

The sum total of all Gross bodies = Ishvara ( saguna worship as an idol)
Without name and form in an unmanifested state = Brahman ( nirguna with no attributes)
[13/05, 8:07 AM] +91 77364 24920: Taittiriya Upanishad:

Avarana: The kosa’s veils the inner vision of all bodies . just like nightfall due to rotation of the Earth veils the sunlight. This veiling is the sole cause of the chronic disease of endless series of births and deaths.
Ignorance is to lose sight of the fact that the inner self is no other than brahman. The ether ( space) reflected in water in a pot and in the sky are circumstantial whereas the space in the pot and the wide expanse are together one and the same. The same way the Abiding Self is the same for all individual beings being the “Brahman”. Multiplicity is ignorance,

The avaranas makes us ignorant of the reality of Brahman. We move in the domain of the senses which seems to the reality in front of our eyes. Hence we live lives in ignorance ( Maya). This ignorance brings fear of joy and sorrow and material possessions. Just like Arjuna in the Mahabharat war who became deluded by his senses and thought that he was actually doing the killing of his relatives in the war . Arjuna was unable to realise that the Supreme Brahman had already decided to take out his relatives through him and he was just an object to get the deed done.
Till the human being feels the separateness with the SELF there is FEAR in the lives.
[14/05, 9:09 AM] +91 77364 24920: Taittiriya Upanishad :

We must at all times remember the veiling and act accordingly.

  1. God is not an outside entity who punishes for offenses and rewards good deeds.
  2. Success reward, joy, sorrow etc are part of worldly life subject to our sensory perception which is the veiling. It has nothing to do with God.
  3. Body, life breaths, mind , intellect and deep sleep. It is beyond these 5 veils that God as consciousness can be realised .
  4. When we live within the 5 veils we have fear and we start believing in an outside God who punishes and rewards.
  5. The fear stops when we realise that it is just a veil and we need to lift it and realise the joy which we have forgotten due to sensory perception.
