*Parivartini Ekadashi*

Today is Ekadashi of the Bhadrapada month, Shukla Paksha, known as Parivartini or Parsva Ekadashi. It is believed that on this day, Lord Vishnu, who is in a state of Yogic sleep (Yoga Nidra), changes his posture from left to right. Hence the name Parivartini.

It is an important day for devotees of Lord Vishnu because as per legend He appeared as Vamana on this day and sent King Mahabali to Pathala loka. This day is also celebrated as Vamana Jayanthi.
