Jnana yoga.

13,14,15- Jnanam yoga chapters, relatively small and creative. This chapter has 27 verses.

14th chapter

3 gunas are stepping stones –
Going to the gunatheetha avastha.

Introduction

Athma Jnanam is for liberation.

Aparavidya- inferior to knowledge
Para vidya- Jnana Vidya.

More as I study I know how much less I know. They make me smaller.
It gives liberation in life, called jeevan mukthi.
After death videha mukthi.
Away from cycles of birth and death.

Foundation- God is cause of creation.

God is:- Mixture of
Chethana and achetana thathvam.
7th chapter-Paraprakrithi and aparaprakrithi.
13th chapter-Purusha and Prakriti.
Generaly- Bhrama and maya.
*Every individual is also this.

As the cause so the results.
As the parent so the child.
*Athma anathma mixture

Anathma born of Prakrithi has three gunas belonging to Prakrithi.

Sathva, Rajas, Thamas.

Body mind concept is ahankara. And equal to ahankara.
It originated from Prakrithi.

Athma is Nirguna in nature, called Sakshi.

*Ahankara+Sakshi is individual.

Pure ahankara and pure Sakshi can’t interact alone in the world. Mixture will interact.

I want to earn from my higher nature.

Ahamkara is needed but over importance will lead to problem.

Overcoat- ahankara .
I am mixture of saguna and nirguna is basis.

5th to 18th verse

Handle the thing. Take fire, electricity, know to handle, otherwise curse.

Guna are chains which bind me.

Ahankara has three gunas.
5 parts.
1.Lakshanam
2.Mode if bondage
3.Lingam in which Guna is Dominated
4.Gathi
5.Phalam

1. Lakshanam
Sathvaha – endowed with knowledge friendly.
Rajas – makes mind karma friendly
Thamas- unifit enimic to both sathva and rajas.

2. Mode of Bondage

When mind is knowledge friendly, I look for infrastructure condusive to study – sathva

When mind is not Knowledge friendly, it wants to do something, activity friendly – Raja

Nidra pradana – Thama

3. A Linga – Dominant Guna

When reading and thinking insrease , sathva increases.
When activity increase Raja increases. Sleep more then thama increases

4. Gathi after death

Sat – swarhaloka
Raj – manushyaloka
Tam – goes downwards

5. Phalam

Consequences in this life-
Sat-jnana
Raj-avtivity
Tam-neglet, animal.

19th and 20th

Talks about trancending three gunas. Make use of three gunas.
Once fruits are ripened, skin comes out. Gradual transition from sat to raj to tam.

Tam to raj
Make use of Sakama karma to fill worldly desires.
Even veda has purva bhaga as advertisement , wishfull.
Selfish activities.

Raj to higher raj
Once enter sakama, beneficiary will be more and more, neibour, temple, education etc.Sakama becomes nishkama.
Make- Guna shudra to Guna vaishya to Guna shathriya. Once shathriya lives, world is benifited.

A Grihastha to vanaprastha , more of Upasana less karma.
Extrovert to quite to Athma oriented person. Make sathva pradana person.
Concentrated spirituality. Old-age.

From sathvaguna to nirguna, go alone. Cannot convert.

There is No way to connect gunathraya to nirguna.

Sadana Chathushtaya Sampanna adhikari person-

Is a sathva pradana person –
Vethi he comes to know.

4th chapter, Knowledge cannot easily happen. Jnanam yoga is going to a guru and systematic study of vedantha. Inspired teaching. Is not preaching.

Shravanam, mananam and nidhidyasanam-become gunatheetha.

I learnt to disidentify by body. Body is instrument. Like a spectacle. When body-mind concept disappears. In deep sleep state.

Krishna says, I am not kshethra. Khethragna I am.

Experiencer is me.
Color and object are different.
Guna belong to complex not me.
Own the fact you are gunatheetha.
I am incapable of becoming saguna, called moksha.

After death gathi are three types:

1.Urdva Gathi- swarha
2. Madya Gathi – Manushya loka
3. Adho Gadhi- Loka Down.

No gathi for nirguna, agathi. I am never affected by gunas. I am Moksha.

Lifestyle of such a gunatheetha person-
Indications, charectors, conducts .

Methord of becoming gunatheetha-
Mind is enlightened.
This is me.
Nobody can become me.
No compatible with me.

Anathma can’t be changed, only attitude should change.

Nidhidyasanam(assimilation), reduce reactions, knowledge seems to improve.
Sunlight rescides so moon seems to be brighter.

Habits have to change. It’s gradual assimilation. Decrease in intensity of manadam, vachikam, kayikam.

Intencity of Mental , verbal, phisycal are gone last.

Finaly recovery period reduces, from hours, minutes to seconds, I forgot and continue to life.

Violence is reduced. Not ended.

Once I bring it down, nidhidyasanam become different. I identified with mind. I reduce , I stop worring to react to reaction.

I am not over obssessed with reaction. I am victim to reaction.
Jnana Nishta.

22nd verse.

Absense of reaction to reaction. Don’t react to reaction. Jnana Nishta.

How does he conduct in his life?
Samathvam. Equanimity.

How to become gunatheetha?
Surrender to god. Is only way. Bakthi. And Knowledge, you get Moksha.
