AKSHARA BHRAHMA YOGA
The 8th chapter comes in the Middle section of Gita.
Between 7th chapter and 12th chapter. 7,8,9,10,11,12 chapters.
This middle 6 chapters are called middle section or Madyama shadkam.
One of the Sadana highlighted is Upasana or Upasanam.
Upasanam Begins from 7th chapter and runs to 6 chapters upto 12th chapter. 8th chapter is important.
Karma yoga is Prathama shadgam.
Jnana yoga is Anthima shadgam.
These Karma yoga and Jnana yoga are Sadana.
One of the important spiritual sadana is Upasana.
Upasana is defined as Saguna Bhrama Vishaya Manasa Vyapara.
Saguna bhrama vishaya manasa vyapara with Eeswara is upasana-it is a mental activity.
Pooja is not upasana but Karma yoga. Because it is a physical activity. Japa and parayanam are Karma yoga.
Mental activity is upasana .But not any activity. Mental activity associated with Eeswara is saguna brahma vishaya Bhrama vyapara.God or Eeswara is endowed with attributes.
Eswara is saguna brahma not nirguna brahma.
Two types of Upasana are there:-
1. Sakama upasana . It is done for Material benifit of this word or benifit of the other worlds.
Ihaloka – this world.
paraloka – like swarga.
Higher lokas means superial material pleasures.
Ihaloka is Powers is to do miracles. It is also for material benifit. Not spirituality.
This can be accomplished by doing sakama upasana.
2. Nishkama upasanam. This is done with out hanging with material benifit. With out escha.
This is primarily topic of middle section. No Sakama upasana is taut in Gita. Krishna teaches Spiritual upliftment or Nishkama upasanam. Inner growth of a person is got with inshkama upasana.
Nishkama Upasana is divided into two.
1. Practice For a length of time.. This gives spiritual growth or qualifications for gnana yoga Abyasa. After aquiring this, withdraws, turns to vedantha vichara which is saguna eeswara upasana.
This type upasana, concentrates in saguna Eswara , gnana yoga concentrate in nirguna Eswara[attributeless bhraman] also.
2. Vedantha shravanam for a length of time, under a guru.
This gives knowledge of nirguna Eeswara jyanam.
Mananam – consolidated-removes doubts.
By nidhidyasanam– this nirguna Jnanam is assimilated for this janma.
Nirguna brama jnana nishta.
Sadyo mukthi , Jeevan mukthi is got.
In the end this jnani dies, has no travel at all. Shukla gathi or Krishna gathi.. he is with God always.
Sadyo mukthi route is jeevan mukthi route.
Krishna want us to get mukthi.
Nishkama bakthi is first sadana.
——
1. In the 8th chapter alone Krishna deals with nishkama upasanam.
He does not want anything exept moksha. He should practice it throughout life.
Nishkama upasanam throught life leads to saguna Eeswara.
2. Second type not goes to nirguna Eeswara jyanam.
Even in death he thinks of God. Saguna God. He does not know anything. He is ajynani, he dies with, rememberance of God. Does not get liberation. He will travel through Shukla gathi and goes to Bhrama loka. Goes from saguna God to nirguna God.
In Bhrahma loka he practices nirguna Eeswara jyanam. As a result, gets liberation in Bhrahma loka and has no punarjanma, krama mukthi is got.
Krishna doesn’t suggest this for us. He says to take sadyonmukthi or jeevan mukthi.
All other chapters are not krama mukthi chapter.
